BIREL: 40 YEARS OF KARTING HISTORY AND TECHINIQUE
PATRESE STANDS GODFATHER TO THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION
OVER 100 GUESTS AMONG JOURNALISTS AND EXPERTS ATTENDED
THE PRESENTATION ORGANIZED AT THE SPORTING CLUB OF MONZA
ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 15TH.
The presentation of
the book dedicated to Birel history and written by Riccardo
Perrone took place in the exclusive setting of the Sporting
Club of Monza. Over 100 guests attended this event and
among them there were several journalists and many drivers
who have contributed to creating Birel legend. Riccardo
Patrese, the Paduan driver who boasts the record of
256 Grand Prix in Formula 1 and attained the title of
Karting World Champion with the Lissone based company
in 1974, is of course one of them. Patrese, who stood
godfather to this event together with the publisher
Giorgio Nada, with Birel President Oscar Sala, Cik-Fia
Vice Honorary President Buser and with the author Riccardo
Perrone, presented officially the publication of the
book. The audience, in addition to Patrese, included
a lot of drivers who have been the protagonists of Birel
history and of karting in general, from the world cycling
champions Beggio and Wilson, up to Gilardi, De Simone,
Corrado Fabi and to the first World Champion of the
Brianza-based factory Edgardo Rossi. Also many experts
didn’t want to miss this presentation which represents
a true event for the karting world as a whole. Among
the others, Dr. Grana of Iame, Umberto Merlin and Achille
Parilla, in addition to the President of the Italian
Karting Federation Gareri were present as well.

Among several speeches, the one made by Ernest Buser,
Cik President for over 20 years, was especially significant
and he pointed out in a moving way the importance of
the publication as an historical heritage for karting.
Patrese agreed with him and showed his astonishment
for the whole material the author was able to collect.
And just the author Riccardo Perrone explained his demanding
and detailed work to reconstruct the most significant
events of the last 40 years, consulting the records
of the main sports newspapers and interviewing hundreds
of experts. At the same time of the press presentation,
the book was presented at all specialized bookshops,
where it is available at the cover price of € 44,00.
The book will be also available from Birel sales network
and at main karting clubs. Furthermore the Italian Karting
Federation has granted, in accordance with the Publishing
House, a 15% discount for all card-carrying members
by means of a coupon enclosed to the Fik official magazine.
A CD containing the most significant images and the
complete presentation of the book was arranged for the
press. All people interested, who could not attend the
presentation at the Sporting Club of Monza, can ask
