THE NOVELTY – Birel B 28 – X and C 28 C-J
BIREL
PRESENTS THE NEW KARTS FOR THE BABY AND MINI KART CLASSES
THE
TWO HIGH-TECH CHASSIS WERE HOMOLOGATED IN COMPLIANCE WITH
THE NEW CSAI RULES AND REGULATIONS.
[09-16-05] The new
rules and regulations for the introductory classes (Baby and
Mini Kart) established by the Csai for the Italian category
Championships offered Birel the occasion to improve two chassis
that had already been widely tested on foreign markets, and
to gear them to the specific requirements. Thus, Birel presents
two high-tech solutions with a sophisticated design, one for
the Baby Kart class (B 28), and one for the Mini Kart class
(C 28). Without doubt, the produced chassis address an upscale
market segment and are meant for particularly demanding customers.
The new rules and regulations will become effective in September
2005, and after a transition period, they will introduce the
new 60cc category to Italy. The new class has been planned
for two age brackets: from age 7 to 9 for the Baby kart and
from age 9 to 12 for the Mini Kart. The innovations compared
to the past consist in the fact that Wtp’s engine monopoly
was cancelled (a wide selection of homologated engines is
now going to be available), and, above all, that the new engines
can be used, thanks to certain limitations, both in the Baby
Kart and the Mini Kart classes. As far as the chassis are
concerned, different measurements were established for Baby
and Mini Karts, leaving however a large margin to manufacturers
to develop the technology according to their own design. Based
on these conditions, the two Birel chassis are bound to become
true trend-setters in Italy, too, after having already gained
large market shares abroad. The two solutions proposed by
Birel basically follow the same design and are offered with
the same outfits (Motorsport). Substantially, they only differ
in the wheelbase (reduced for the Baby Kart) and in small
structural details, like the cross-bar of the chassis behind
the seat: the Baby version has a straight cross-bar, whereas
the Mini Kart is equipped with an oblique one, like the Birel
100 range. The fact that, along with its importers, the Lissone-based
manufacturer has always taken part in the most demanding preparatory
Championships proves its efficacy to Italian teams and drivers.
From northern Europe to the United States, hundreds of young
drivers are being trained on Birel chassis. The basic concept
in the design of both chassis is a result of the experience
gained with the chassis of the major classes, some of whose
essential features were reproduced to scale. This was done
also for the braking system, Birel’s strong point in
all categories: the technology worked out in the 125cc classes
was employed for the front brakes. The new Birel chassis feature
their outstanding design also in relation to pods and safety.
In fact, the new chassis are going to be available with the
latest Freeline pods (homologation Fik 05/09), which are identical
with the ones homologated for the major classes. The new pods
also include a rear bumper, which matches its elegant lines
with utmost safety on the track. Design is thus a strong point
of the new karts, which are also equipped with top-range accessories.
From hubs to crown carriers, from floor panels to steering
wheels, only Freeline accessories from the HQ line are used.
