BIREL’S PROPOSAL FOR THE ROTAX TROPHY

Starting from 2006, the Trophy of the Austrian manufacturer formerly run on Rotax Rm 1 - single-brand trophy regarding both chassis and engine - will be open to all kart manufacturers.

Rotax closes a chapter: starting from 2006, it will promote its Trophy reverting to the single-brand engine formula, no longer restricted to single-brand karts as in the past two seasons. This decision opens the doors to all manufacturers wishing to propose one of their models to the market, meeting the specifications provided for the DD2 engine (two-speed unit and axle transmission). Birel chose the path of excellence in this segment, too, manufacturing a specific chassis with all the properties of the Racing range.

The body is derived from the “M” line, which was so successful in the competitions of the past season. The tube diameter measures 32 mm, while the axle 40 mm. The braking system is hydraulic with 150-mm disks on the front and 200-mm disks on the back wheels. The outfits are the same as for the Racing line, including magnesium rims, Hq Freeline accessories and PVC sticker kit. The peculiar feature of the Rotax DD2 engine - equipped with gear change and a special transmission system requiring the axle to be integrated with the engine itself – provides for a specific design of the rear carriage. This, among other things, includes the bumper prescribed by the Trophy.
