PRESS RELEASE

JAMIE CROXFORD IS THE NEW BIREL DRIVER

Birel Motorsport wishes to announce that it has reached a co-operation agreement with the British driver Jamie Croxford who, during 2006, was already part of the team Birel Pf International. For Croxford this is a promotion to the official team following a great season in the 100 FA European and World Championships. The contract, which was signed on Friday, 20th October at the factory in Lissone, has an initial validity of one year and provides for an option in favour of Birel, which can be exercised before the end of the season. The British driver will join the already confirmed Sauro Cesetti and the German driver Marco Wittmann, who was promoted to the top category after a great season in the 100 Ica, in the official Formula A Motorsport team. Croxford’s professional schedule will include the usual races at the beginning of the season (Winter Cup and Margutti), the Open International Championship, the European Championship and the World Championship. Moreover, Croxford will take part in the Formula A British Championship with the support of Birel’s Andy Cox’s ACR. It was in fact Andy Cox, the British importer of the company from Lissone who, during the past seasons, contributed to launch Croxford in international karting, where the driver achieved great results in the 100 Ica. In 2006, thanks to the support of Paul Fletcher’s Pf International team, the British driver became one of the most promising talents in Formula A. The 20-year-old Jamie Croxford, who was born in Wootton Fields (Northampton) commented: “I am very pleased, Birel is one of the most prestigious and successful firms in the arena of World karting and for me it is an honour to be able to race with the official team; I am a very enthusiastic person and I can’t wait to get on the track. I will also try to learn a bit of Italian in order to facilitate my relationship with the team. For me today is a special day and I would like to thank Paul Fletcher and Andy Cox who, up to now, have had an instrumental role in my training and helped me progress up to the official team.” For the manufacturers from Lissone it was Ronni Sala, Chairman of Birel Motorsport, who commented on the agreement: “Jaime stood out in one of our teams thanks to his speed, his professionalism and his determination; these characteristics make him a complete driver with great potential. We are sure he will be a great contribution to the team, and he will also be very important in commercial terms for the British market.”
