JACK HARVEY
IS BIREL’S NEW OFFICIAL DRIVER
THANKS TO A TWO-YEAR
CONTRACT THE BRITISH DRIVER WILL BE RACING IN KF2 in 2008
AND IN KF1 IN THE SUBSEQUENT SEASON.
Birel Motorsport has announced that a contract has been signed
with the British driver Jack Harvey who, already from the
next race in Macao on 16th December, will be one of the drivers
under the direct management of Birel’s racing department.
The parties have signed a two-year contract with right of
option in favour of Birel for the 3rd year and have outlined
a programme, according to which the driver will race in KF2
in 2008 (using Iame engines) and in KF1 in the subsequent
season.
On the occasion of the event at Macao on the other hand Harvey
will take part in his last race in KF3 and will make his debut
with the new colours. As far as the 2008 programme is concerned,
the British driver will take part in all the events supported
by Birel Motorsport, which will include the Winter Cup and
the Margutti, the 6 races of the WSK championship and all
the International races, including the Asia-Pacific championship
at Suzuka.
Choosing Jack Harvey is an integral part of Birel’s
plan to support young talented drivers, which in the next
few years will be followed even more closely by the management
of the firm from Lissone. Harvey started to race when he was
7 and in his 3rd season he won his first national title in
England in the category 60 Wtp.
In 2005, always in England, he made his debut in the Rotax
Junior championship and, in the following season, started
taking part in international events with great results in
the category 100 Ica/Junior.
But 2007 was his decisive year, thanks to his victory of the
European title of the category KF3 and the Open Masters of
the same category, which have made him one of the most promising
young drivers of International karting. While with Birel Harvey
will also be followed by his trusted engineer Alan Mackay,
who has been working with him since when the driver started
competing in International races.
About his transfer to Birel, the young British driver said:
“at this stage in my career it is a great opportunity
to be able to work with such a major firm as Birel, with which
a medium-term programme was outlined which is expected to
give great satisfactions to both parties. I am extremely motivated
to give my absolute best. When I visited Lissone I was impressed
by the firm’s organisation and by its racing department
and I am very excited at the possibility of being able to
start racing already at Macao, as this will give me the chance
to familiarise myself with the team in a race context. At
the same time I can’t wait to start the tests with KF2,
the category for which I will be racing next year.”
