Welcome to the official Birel S.p.A. website. In the name of Birel philosophy, which has always been targeted to customer service and technology, we have created a karting portal: the focus is on products, debates with engineers and drivers, reviews of tracks and information on the key issues of our sport. Birel is leader on the web, too.

06/16/2002 - 2002 OPEN MASTERS - SARNO - FANETTI HEADS THE ICA RESULTS LIST.

During the fourth trial of the Italian Open Masters Championship Michele Fanetti headed once again the Ica class results list.

The Lombard pilot, promising guy of the Birel breeding ground, attained a wonderful second position at the finishing line, but if he had not run up against some problems during qualifying rounds, he would have come in first. Michele, during the last trial of the season in Muro Leccese, will be the pilot to be beaten as far as the intermediate category of class 100 is concerned. The Portuguese Albuquerque, who came in first in Sarno, the Swiss Mortara and the French Iglesias will be the most experienced competitors during the Championship. Regarding category 100, Birel pilots had ups and downs in Ica/Junior and in FA. In Junior class, the Latium pilot Andrea Todisco had to leave the race because of a bump, while Filippo Tedeschini and Marco Mapelli lived this event having a performance beneath expectations.

The Monegasque pilot Herck attained the first position, while Hulkemberg still heads the general results list. In FA class Salvatore Gatto was not able to compete at his best and he could not conclude his final trial because of a technical breakdown. However he still ranks among fastest pilots even though his chances of competing for the first position are now reduced. Davide Gaggianesi does not score any point during the Campania away match as well: a rim problem stops him before starting the race. Carlo Van Dam of the Trulli Kart team attains the first position in the top class of category 100, while the French Guignet comes in second, heading the results list of the Championship. Now Gaggianesi attains the third position of the Championship and in Muro Leccese he will have to make up for 14 points over the French pilot. In class 125 the expert pilot Piccini came in first, while Laudato, favoured by the disqualification of Cesetti and Profico too, attained the third position. Azzolina ran a wonderful race as well, ranking always among the best pilots for the whole weekend. The final trial of the Open Championship is scheduled for October 6th in Muro Leccese. But next events concerning International Karting will be the FSA World Championship in Finland on June 30th and the selections for the Ica/Junior and Ica European Championship on July 14th in Corridonia.
