which has always been targeted to customer service and technology,
we have created a karting portal: the focus is on products,
debates with engineers and drivers, reviews of tracks and information

- CRG DRIVERS JOHNATAN THONON AND SÈBASTIEN BUEMI
ARE THE NEW EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS OF THE 100 ICA AND 100
ICA JUNIOR CLASSES
» 100 ICA
The difficult week-end of Michele Fanetti has already
started from the qualifying rounds. As a matter of fact
the set-up found during free trials in the previous days
turns out to be not effective after the installation of
the tyres of the closed park and the Italian driver can
only get the 38th absolute time. The Belgian driver of
the Crg team Jonathan Thonon attains the pole position,
heading his fellow driver Marco Di Daio and also Carton,
Albuquerque and Mortara. The leading drivers of the Birel
team are the Czechoslovakian Klobas in the sixth position
and the good French woman driver Aurelie Le Francois who
will attain the seventh position. During qualifying rounds
the French woman driver surprises everybody, attaining
the pole position in the pre-final for the couple Birel
- Tm thanks to four successful races and to her second
position during the five qualifying trials. According
to all experts she is the most qualified driver to compete
for the title. The English Gary Catt (Tony Kart / Tm)
will sprint beside the Birel woman driver, while the second
row is attained by Cuoco and Carton. Some set-up problems
slow down Fanetti in the rounds as well, where he will
attain the thirteenth position. But Fanetti is not the
only favourite driver who has to relegate in the pre-final
and as a matter of fact even the most qualified competitors,
Thonon and Albuquerque, will start the race respectively
from the eleventh and fourteenth position. The Tony Kart
driver Edoardo Mortara will sprint from the fifth position,
while his fellow driver Albertini will not be able to
qualify. Marco Pizzuti of the Birel Motorsport team too
is not among finalists because he was off the track during
one round and so he will start the race from the front
row in the Federation Cup, reserved for the first 34 drivers
who did not qualify for the finals. In this competition
the driver from the Marches will come out second, attaining
the best time.

On the contrary, during the pre-final Gary Catt stands
out unexpectedly, heading the Italian Angeloni and the
Kosmic driver Jan Micheal Carton. After the good results
obtained during the rounds Aurelie La Francois has to
submit to her bad luck because of the breakage of the
exhaust manifold, forcing the woman driver to leave the
competition in spite of the thirteen laps run beside the
leading drivers. Michele Fanetti runs a very good race,
recovering and attaining the fifth final position, headed
at the finishing line by Thonon. Just after the beginning
of the final Catt is leading once again, but Fanetti attains
immediately the second position, wishing to do his best
in the competition. But unfortunately the Italian driver
will have to defer his appointment for the continental
title: he is slowed down by some technical problems and
also outstripped both by Albuquerque and by Thonon, having
afterwards to relegate to over the tenth position. La
Francois too, forced to start the race from behind the
lines because of the problem occurred during the pre-final,
has to leave the competition following technical trouble.
In the meantime the Crg drivers Thonon and Albuquerque
outstrip Catt and they will finish the race keeping respectively
these positions. So Jonathan Thonon attains the European
title of the 100 Ica class, succeeding Jan Philippe Guignet
in the golden roll of the continental title.
