Welcome to the official Birel S.p.A. website. In the name of Birel philosophy, which has always been targeted to customer service and technology, we have created a karting portal: the focus is on products, debates with engineers and drivers, reviews of tracks and information on the key issues of our sport. Birel is leader on the web, too.

09/08/2002 - QUINTARELLI LONE LEADER OF THE DRIVER RESULTS LIST ONCE AGAIN

Ronnie Quintarelli, thanks to his successful performance in race 2 and to the 5th position attained in race 1, gains a seven points lead over the Dutch CRG driver Van der Garde, who made in the general results list the same score as the Birel driver team before the away match in France. Davide Forè is at the top of race 1.

Before the away match in France Ronnie Quintarelli (Birel) and Giedo Van der Garde (CRG) shared the leadership of the driver results list having attained the same score. After the two races run on the Salbris racing track Quintarelli, thanks to his 5th position attained in race 1 and to his successful performance in race 2, gains a seven points lead over his rival driver once again. As a matter of fact the Dutch CRG driver, after having headed Quintarelli in race 1 and despite his 4th final position in this competition, could only attain the 3rd position in race 2. So the last competition of the season, scheduled on October 27th in Italy in Muro Leccese, will be decisive for the title award. According to the score calculation Foré (Tony Kart) and Van Dam (Trulli) are still competing as well, even though it is likely that only Quintarelli and Van der Garde will be rivals for the world cycling title.

The news of the French away match has already highlighted the performance of the Birel team after qualifying rounds already: Ardigò attains his pole position, Quintarelli places himself in the second position, while Groppi in the fourth. The Tony Kart drivers Ammermuller and Forè are well placed too, as well as Giedo Van der Garde who sprints from the third row. On the contrary Gianluca Beggio seems to be in trouble because of some set-up problems and after a difficult weekend he does not succeed in placing himself in the front rows. On Sunday morning, just to complicate things further on, it starts raining on the French racing track and this event has an influence on the last qualifying round and on both competitions as well.
