Welcome to the official Birel S.p.A. website. In the name of Birel philosophy, which has always been targeted to customer service and technology, we have created a karting portal: the focus is on products, debates with engineers and drivers, reviews of tracks and information on the key issues of our sport. Birel is leader on the web, too.

EASYKART BRANDED TROPHY - BALANCE AFTER THE FIRST COMPETITIVE SEASON

Two years after the launching of the Easykart project and at the end of the first season of races run in Italy for the relevant Branded Trophy, Birel and Iame can already outline a first balance of this operation.

The targets of the project were the increase of the basic karting users, favouring at the same time the approach to this sporting activity by other new users. In order to achieve such goals and to get in touch with all potential users a complete range of specific products for all age brackets was designed, and above all some really important activities were planned to support such a project. The range of Easykart products consists of three models: the 60 cc model for drivers from 8 to 14 years, the 100 cc model for the age bracket between 12 and 16 years and the 125 cc model for the over 16-year drivers. All models are characterised by the electric starting and by the centrifugal clutch and in particular by a really promotional price which, concerning the most expensive model (125 cc), amounts to Euro 3000, including VAT, tyres and transport charges. The first sporting season featuring the Easykart brand involved exclusively the category 125 and it was mainly concentrated in the northern Italy. But, despite the gradual engagement planned by Birel and Iame in order to achieve and consolidate intermediate targets, the figures just obtained are already stunning: over 350 go-karts have been sold and 52 drivers were present at the starting line of the National Final in Parma.

The sporting programme for the year 2003 provides that an area championship for the class 125 shall be arranged in central Italy and in Sicily as well, which will support the tested Northern Area championship. Then, the best drivers of the three championships will compete for the absolute title in the National Final on October 26th. On the contrary, in 2003 the propaedeutic classes 60 and 100 will start from the Northern Area to follow later the same development plan made by the category 125, by expanding the competitions to the other regions as well. The philosophy of the Easykart programme expects an explicit engagement by Birel and Iame to overcome all obstacles keeping drivers away from racing tracks. For this reason very important initiatives have been carried out, such as the Fik licences granted free to new customers, a special internet site, technical assistance on racing tracks, and a sporting technical regulation which is very stable and restrictive. The above mentioned initiatives, supported by the really promotional price of go-karts, attained higher results exceeding all rosy prospects and making the balance of the first two years of activity very positive. Another evidence of the validity of the Easykart project is the great success obtained by the category in America, which is the second country the commercial and sporting programme started from. Even across the ocean, after one year of activity only, over 200 drivers are already present. The first Easykart Champions for the Italian Trophy were Claudio Guarnieri (Champion of the Northern Area), Giacomo Martino (Champion of the Winter Trophy) and Marco Gagliano, winner of the National Final.
