BIREL: 40 YEARS OF KARTING HISTORY AND TECHNIQUE
A publication collecting
the deeds of drivers and technicians, protagonists of
40 years of karting history, was needed in the sports
editorial outline. Riccardo Perrone, Milanese journalist
but first of all great lover of engines and karting,
has filled this gap. Perrone, supported by Birel and
through the history of the Brianza-based company, has
reviewed the development of the world karting, both
from a technical and sporting point of view. The result
he obtained is a publication not to be missed for all
fans: images never seen before, technical specifications
and exclusive interviews with the most prominent protagonists
of every period represent the content of the over 300
pages composing the book. The book reviews Birel history
starting from the ‘50s, when Umberto Sala, called
“birel”, started the manufacture of go-karts
similar to those coming from the United States. Since
then 40 years went by, Birel attained 26 world cycling
titles and obtained several successes in all countries
worldwide, supporting drivers such as Patrese, Hakkinen
and Montoya who were taking their first steps in the
racing world. And through Birel history, which has become
one of the leading companies all over the world, it
is possible to review the most important events of the
world karting. The book can be purchased on-line through
the web site of the publishing house (www.giorgionadaeditore.it)
and it is also available at all specialized bookshops
and from Birel sales network.
