Welcome to the official Birel S.p.A. website. In the name of Birel philosophy, which has always been targeted to customer service and technology, we have created a karting portal: the focus is on products, debates with engineers and drivers, reviews of tracks and information on the key issues of our sport. Birel is leader on the web, too.

16/03/2003 -14TH MARGUTTI TROPHY - FANETTI IS LEADING IN THE FA

The Birel colours attain the first position in the Ica/Junior category thanks to the Spanish driver Alvarez, Mapelli places himself in the 3rd position in the 100 Ica class, while Fanetti comes in 2nd in the Fa category, competing on equal terms with the leading drivers of the world go-karting.

As usual, this 14th edition of the Andrea Margutti Trophy was really a very interesting event. The attendance of manufacturing companies and drivers was very significant as well and all categories had the opportunity of offering a concrete preview of the show scheduled for the next-coming international season. The Birel colours confirmed once again their competitiveness in all categories involved, even though the final results could have been much more satisfactory. For example, Michele Fanetti could have been the winner of the 100 Fa category but unfortunately, after a duel to the death both with Cesetti and with Van Dam, he placed himself 2nd at the finishing line.

Fanetti, making his dubut in the 100 Fa category, showed to be really resolute and not to stand in awe of anybody else. The Swiss driver Rohner ran a very good race as well but finally, despite his leading position attained during the first laps, he placed himself in the 6th position. Gatto and Gaggianesi had a very good performance too: the Sicilian driver placed himself in the 4th position, while Gaggianesi, who started the race behind the lines because of a problem occurred during the qualifying rounds, attained the fastest lap record and finally he came in 8th. Carlo Van Dam was the winner of the race, while Ammermuller placed himself in the 3rd position. Oakes established himself in the 100 Ica category, heading Bollingoft and the very good Marco Mapelli. On the contrary the Birel colours attained a full success in the 100 ica/Junior category thanks to the Spanish driver Alvarez, who headed both Molina and the French driver Bianchi at the finishing line. For the protagonists of the international go-karting the next appointment is scheduled for March 30th with the second trial of the Open Masters in Pomposa. .
