The spindle-hub combination adopted by the series for the front-end brakes [1], constructed with a researched design and linked to a specific hub with 6 rim anchorage points [2]. The brake control unit [3], instead, is provided for on the steering wheel with a convenient steel lever. The rear-end braking system [4] is new on all models and of Wawe design with a wavy external perimeter which optimizes both the braking power and the dispersion of heat.

NEWS - KF LINE

THE CHASSIS DEDICATED TO THE GROUPS WITHOUT GEARS WILL BE COMPRISED OF THREE MODELS WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDIZATION (R 31-SE, RX 32-SE E MX 32-SE) AND OF ONE ADDITIONAL MODEL DEVELOPED FOR THE ROTAX MAX SERIES.

There will be three chassis models produced by Birel in 2008 with Cik-Fia certification for the International classes that are compatible with the “KF” classes and are, more generally, in the single gear category.
The series will be distinguished by the initials “SE” and will use equipment from the top of the line Freeline series.
An important role will be maintained by the R 31 line, multi-victorious and, consequently, at the apex in terms of sales.
The R 31-SE model is built with mixed 30 and 32 mm pipes and adapts well to the soft tyres used in International competitions and on tracks with a lot of grip.
Its strong points are its fluidity and optimum balancing which makes it versatile for all types of courses and driving styles. Series R is concluded with model RX 32-SE, which is constructed with pipes of mainly 32 mm.
This version guarantees a maximum grip adapting itself better to the most slippery tracks and to medium-hard tyres.
The third approved model is distinguishable by the mark MX 32-SE and provides for a different anterior design with the curved pipes (mainly 32 mm) to the sides of the tank.
This design principle offers better precision when entering a curve.
In reference to general characteristics, the MX 32-SE is effective with medium-hard tyres, tracks that are not overly rubberized and with many direction changes.
The last chassis in the series is characterized by the initials RX 30 and does not possess an existing valid certification, therefore, it can only be used in competitive environments in which certification is not requested.
The development (with excellent results) was done in the Rotax Series, where it will further evolve in view of the next certification.
The chassis is built with 30 mm pipes.
From the design point of view it can be traced to the geometry of the R 31 model, in respect to which, however, it offers a better grip, adapting itself very well to medium-hard tyres.
An important new development common to the entire series in respect to the past season is represented in the body made of materials which possess different technological specifications. Extensive work, both in the research phase as well as on the course, has brought about solutions which, apart from the individual characteristics of each chassis, guarantee more effective performance in terms of balance, fluidity and grip. Furthermore, the 2008 series is mounted with a new Wawe braking system, new rims and hubs allowing the possibility of using up to 6 points of anchorage and with a straight second torsion bar.
Plus, as an option, the new Freeline rear housing with international certification and the T 12 seat by Tillet are available.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS

The entire series is constructed of steel tubes with specifications that are different in comparison to those from 2007.
This choice brought benefits especially in terms of grip. The geometry of the front-end is also new in how it supports the right seat which offers rigidity to the chassis and the possibility of making more adjustments to the seat. The second front-end torsion bar is straight and comes in either steel or aluminium.
The RX 32 model has better balance through the modification of the rear-end crossbeam using a more traditional form while still remaining within certification specifications.
At the leading edge of the accessories, the entire series will adopt the new rear-end steel disk brakes (as opposed to the previous ones in cast iron) designed by Wawe.
They improve both braking efficiency as well as the dispersion of heat. Also new are the magnesium rims introduced to the race by Birel Motorsport after a long experimentation phase. Besides optimising the performance of the tyres, the new rims can be fixed to the hubs using from 3 to 6 anchorage points.
This possibility allows modifications to the rear-end grip. The hubs are also new with the front-end ones characterized by an anchorage system using 6 pins on the disc-holder which optimizes the performance of the spindle and the “fluidity” in a curve. This rear-end is affixed on the axle with a facing clamp, uniformly sharing the fastening on the axle.
