JAPANESE CHAMPIONSHIP -ROUND 5 WESTERN REGION
BIREL ALSO
RULES OVER THE WESTERN REGION
FOLLOWING THE VICTORIES ACHIEVED
IN THE EASTERN REGION, BIREL’S COLOURS HAVE ALSO BEEN
RULING IN THE WESTERN REGION. GREAT RESULTS CAN NOW BE EXPECTED
ALSO FOR THE FINAL, WHICH WILL BE HELD AT SUZUKA ON 4TH NOVEMBER.
Birel’s lucky period continues
in Japan: following the success achieved in the eastern region
by Sasaki and Nakayama, there were also three victories and
many positive placements in all the main categories in the
Western region. In the top category, Formula A, Ohtani (Winforce-Tm)
predominated over Onoue (Tony) and Hiraki (Birel-Tm), whereas
in the 100cc Ica victory went to Ohkura (Winforce-Tm) who
beat Hori (Tony) and Matsuzaki (Intrepid). It should also
be mentioned that throughout the weekend Ishii was among the
fastest, although in the Pre-Final a problem with his carburettor
confined him to 5th place following a great recovery from
the rear. Birel achieved another victory in the FS 125 category
race, in which all participants had the same engine and tyres:
Ishikawa (Birel R 31-SV) preceded Takayama (Winforce) and
Shirai (Crg). Worthy of mention is Ishikawa’s positive
experience during the summer, thanks to the short course organised
in Italy by Birel Pacific in co-operation wit Savani Competition.
In the light of the two most recent races held in Japan and
the positive results obtained by Birel’s drivers throughout
the season, we can expect a great weekend also for the important
final of 4th November, which will be held on the track at
Suzuka. The scores of this final event will be increased in
order to guarantee great value for this race within the season,
therefore making this a decisive event in terms of national
title award. Among Birel’s drivers those who have gained
a place among the favourites are Sasaki and Nakayama, both
protagonists of the Eastern region, and Ohtani, protagonist
of the Western region. With the season drawing to a close,
there are also positive signs coming from other Asian regions,
where Birel’s drivers have won 4 national Rotax championships:
the Asian Rotax Max Champion - Junior with Calvin Wong (Birel
SWF-K32SB), the Malaysian Rotax Max Champion - Junior with
Bryan Mehta (Birel R31-SV) and the Indian Rotax Junior and
Senior championships, respectively won by Chitesh and Aditya
Patel. Much of the merit for these results goes to the local
Birel’s agent Richard Lim, who managed to provide great
technical assistance to the drivers taking part in the races.
