BIREL STRIKE
BACK!
THE 2008 BIREL
CHASSIS R31SE AND RX 30 SE MADE A STUNNING DEBUT AT PF INTERNATIONAL
CIRCUIT ON THE 3RD FEBRUARY 2008.
In KF3 ACR driver
Alex Lynn notched up his first career win in dominate style.
In practice on the Saturday the Dunmow based youngster lapped
the Lincolnshire circuit in a sensational time of 45.72secs
aboard the new title challenger from Birel the R31 SE.
On race day starting
from grid 4 Lynn made short work of the heat finishing 1st.
In heat 2 he drove a flawless race from grid 23 to 3rd position!
In the final starting from Pole Lynn was a little too defensive
on turn 3 running wide allowing 2 other drivers past, but
it wasn’t long before he regained the lead going on
to win his first ever race. “Well it’s been a
long time coming but to win is a great feeling, this new chassis
is fantastic, a lot more grip and very easy to drive. What
I am also very pleased about is that we didn’t use new
tyres today and this shows how competitive our package is!”
commented a delighted Lynn.
In Rotax Max 177
it was the debut race for Steve Cobb aboard the new 2008 Birel
RX 30 SE. Cobb tested the new kart the day before and went
into race day full of confidence. He was to be proved right
taking the lead with three laps to go to record his first
win on a Birel. The RX 30 SE was developed by max legend Mike
Simpson in 2007 and Team Simpson will run Cobb in the Rotax
Max S1 in 2008 along with Tom Thompson and Amanda Lassu in
DD2 and in the Euro max series Anthony Vince.
