OPEN MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP MURO LECCESE (June 12th-13th, 2004)
GRUBMÜLLER WINS IN THE JUNIOR CLASS
BIREL
DRIVER GAINS BIG VICTORY AND MOVES UP THE RESULTS BOARD AT
ONLY 2 POINTS FROM ENG. CESETTI RANKS SECOND IN FA AND RISITANO
FIFTH IN ICA. IN THE 125 ICC CLASS, MANETTI IS THE ABSOLUTE
CHAMPION.
The fourth event of
the Open Masters Championship has confirmed Birel drivers
at the top of all classes. Particularly, the Muro Leccese
race has been extremely significant as far as the FA World
Championship is concerned, which the racing track is going
to host on September 26th. In this class, both Cesetti and
Fanetti have already distinguished themselves. Cesetti, native
of the Marches, disputed Forè’s victory all through
the race, finishing just a few thousandths of a second behind
the driver of the Tony Kart Team. Fanetti (ranking 10th),
instead, was slowed down in Finale by some tire problem after
a brilliant performance during the qualifying rounds. Nymann
won the third place on the podium, while the Championship’s
leader De Bruijn finished 4th. In the 100 Junior class, the
supremacy of Birel chassis is still unquestioned, and after
the victories of Coletti and Pic, here comes the exploit of
Grubmüller, who is now only 2 points behind Eng. In Jesolo,
a thrilling duel will be put on between the two competitors.
Also Frenchman Pic, who finished 2nd in Muro Leccese, is still
running for the title. Just like Coletti (5th), with whom
he shares the 4th position in the general results. In the
100 Ica class, Waldschmidt is first ahead of Martin and Chinosi.
Birel MGM Team driver Mustonen ends up 4th ahead of Risitano.
The Latium-born driver is now in a draw with Waldschmidt,
and the first comer in Jesolo will be the winner. On the contrary,
games are over in the 125 Icc class, where Manetti gains victory
and title. The European title-holder in this class, Cozzaglio,
ends 2nd ahead of Principe. Laudato finished 4th. The races
held in Muro Leccese will be broadcasted by Rai Sat on Tuesday,
June 15th. The final appointment of the season will take place
in Jesolo on July 18th.
