2006 MOTORSPORT TEAM

PRESENT IN ALL CATEGORIES

BIREL MOTORSPORT IS GOING TO FACE A COMPLETE COMPETITION PROGRAMME ALSO IN 2006. THE AIM IS TO DEVELOP SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS FOR ANY MARKET NEED. WITTMAN (ICA) AND COZZAGLIO (SICC) WILL BE THE NEW ENTRIES AMONG THE DRIVERS.

Birel Motorsport’s programme for the coming season include commitments in all the races of the Cik categories. This strategic decision will be extremely rewarding in terms of development, as it will enable to spot effective technical solutions in every category, at the same time favouring the fast conveying of the know-how gained in the production phase. In relation to the prize records, this choice has always produced excellent results, too, placing Birel chassis at the top in all classes. In organisational terms, it requires great efforts to support such a demanding programme. It is sufficient to think of such races as the Open Championship, used to test many technical solutions, where Birel Motorsport is going to compete with as many as 8 drivers and will have to control a high amount of technical material for each of them. These were the preliminary conditions for the assembling of the 2006 team, which, obviously, relies first of all on the great reputation of Francesco Laudato, the absolute leader of the 2005 Sicc racing season. Next to the Sicc world champion, there will be the first new entry: Manuel Cozzaglio. The Brescia-born driver, who already took part in and won the European Championship with Birel in 2003, is back with the Lissone-based manufacturer after the retirement from racing of Ennio Gandolfi. In Formula A, Lancaster, Cesetti and Antonucci were reconfirmed, running this year also with Nicholas Risitano. As far as Formula A is concerned, this will certainly be a great team, technically able to provide a great deal of information both on chassis and engines. In the Ica and Ica/Junior, Birel Motorsport will be present with a driver for each category. In the 100 Ica, Risitano will be replaced by German Wittman, whereas Peter Antolfeld was confirmed in the Junior. In addition, an integral part of the work of Birel Motorsport’s engineers will concern the racing programmes of the main importers, who will be supported in the course of the most important appointments. Direct support will also be given to all the Junior teams running in international programmes. In addition to being part of the customer service policy, this schedule will help to closely monitor also the growth of the most deserving drivers.
