GERMAN KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP (DKM, DJKM, DKC) KERPEN 10TH /11TH
JUNE 2006
BIREL COLOURS
DOMINATE
WITTMANN WINS THE FORMULA A (DKM)
RACE, SCHRANGL THE ICC (DKC) IN WHICH BIREL DRIVERS REPRESENT
MORE THAN 50% OF THE PARTICIPANTS
The 3rd round of the German Championship
held at Kerpen confirmed the outstanding competitiveness of
Birel’s chassis and drivers. In the Final of the Dkm
class (FA), Marco Wittmann gave a great performance by crossing
the finishing line ahead of his colleague Burkhard Maring,
followed by Dreezen, Lipp and Mengesdorf, whereas in the class
Dkc (ICC) it was Birel Seven’s Austrian driver Schrangl
who reached the highest step of the podium. In the class Dkc
Kraske (Birel Solgat team) also climbed on the podium with
his 3rd place behind Verdi. Jeleniowski also did well with
his 4th place. In the class Djkm (Junior), Birel’s drivers
were unlucky as, for one reason or another, they did not manage
to get on the podium; the race was won by Jack te Braak. But
Birel’s success in Germany was also highlighted by the
number of drivers who chose the chassis manufactured in Lissone:
the record belongs to the class 125 Dkc, which saw 15 Birel
drivers out of the total 27 at the starting line. The 2nd
most represented brand was Crg, with 5 drivers. But even in
the class Dkm (FA), Birel chassis are the most numerous thanks
to its 14 drivers, whereas in the Junior it is leading in
this special classification along with Crg, with 15 drivers
each. In terms of championship Birel is leading the 125, thanks
to the team Solgat Jeleniowski which has gained 99 points
and are followed by Ecker (65 points) and another driver of
the Solgat team, Maik Kraske, with 60 points. In the class
Dkm (FA), thanks to Kerpen’s success, Marco Wittmann
jumped to the lead with 68 points, followed by Christensen
(Gillard) with 60 points and the other Birel driver Burkhard
Maring with 59 points.
