EKN TRACKSIDE: STARS OF KARTING NATIONAL FINALS 22/23/24 SEPTEMBER

MUNOZ AND BIREL CHAMPIONS IN THE JUNIOR CATEGORY

THANKS TO HIS 4TH PLACE IN THE FINAL RACE, THE SPANISH DRIVER WINS THE NATIONAL TITLE OF THE JUNIOR CATEGORY. TOP POSITIONS ALSO FOR KARAM, IN THE CADET CATEGORY, AND BOSWELL IN THE ICC.

The National Final of the Championship promoted by the Stars American Federation took place in Canada during the weekend of 24th September. Once again Birel’s colours have confirmed the manufacturer’s position at the top of the most prestigious karting event in the USA. In particular it was Carlo Munoz who, in the 100 Ica Junior, brought success to the manufacturers from Lissone: thanks to his 4th place, the Spanish driver became National champion of the category. And if it had not been for a collision during the last stages of the race, Munoz would have celebrated the title by climbing on the podium yet again. But the race was won by Davis. For Birel the best result came in the Cadet, where a great Sage Karam, after having gone back with the Mrp team, seemed unbeatable. In the 100 Ica Birel’s driver Giessen gave once again a great performance: having gone back to karting after a spell in motor racing, the American driver gained 4th place in the race won by Miller. In the 125 Icc won by Mandarino on the other hand, Boswell nearly reached the podium finishing 4th. For Birel’s offshore teams the professional season is nearly over; the results have been very positive and they could improve even further on the occasion of November’s Super National. Moreover, the presence in Canada of the technical staff of the manufacturers from Lissone, which also includes Mike Wilson (new Birel manager), completes a specific programme of development for the American market. Both for the season’s final and for 2007, many effective technical novelties are expected.
