INTERNATIONAL
ROK FINALS - LONATO (BS), CLASSES ROK, SUPER ROK, JUNIOR ROK
AND MINI ROK
HAJEK GIVES
BIREL SUCCESS IN ROK
THE CZECH DRIVER FROM THE JOKA–ORION
TEAM WINS THE MOST IMPORTANT CATEGORY. OF THE VORTEX SINGLE
BRAND. GREAT PERFORMANCE ALSO FROM SIMAS AND STEPHEN, WHO
BOTH CLIMBED ON THE PODIUM IN THE JUNIOR AND SUPER ROK RESPECTIVELY.
The track at Lonato hosted the
International Finals of the single-brand Rok, promoted by
Vortex. The championships regulations, which is raced in many
countries around the world, impose the use of Rok engine (60cc
for the Mini, 125cc with various limitations for the Junior,
Rok and Super Rok) and of Bridgestone tyres, although they
leave complete freedom as far as chassis are concerned, only
requesting that their type be approved. For this reason the
chassis plays a vital role and, together with the driver’s
skills, is the only parameter which can make the difference.
In the top class, which 2 years ago was won by a Birel driver,
it was the chassis’ efficiency which determined the
victory. Patrik Hajek, of the Birel Yoka-Orion team, managed
to exploit his chassis as much as possible and won the Rok
category, which is the most important within the Trophy. The
Czech driver raced with the ‘R’ line chassis developed
by the manufacturers from Lissone during the current season,
which already played a leading role in the World Championship
Ica at Angerville. The technical solutions which have been
employed will be the basis upon which the 2007 version is
developed, which is therefore likely to have a prominent role
both internationally and in the individual national championships,
including the single-brand ones. Hajek’s leadership
went unchallenged all weekend, as proven by his pole position,
his victory in the leg and in the Pre-final and his solitary
race in the final. Always in the Rok category, the Italian
driver Rabaglia drew attention to himself thanks to the same
technical specifications; he arrived 4th and completed the
fastest lap. Birel’s drivers nearly reached the top
also in the Junior and the Super Rok. Among the very young
drivers Simas, from Lithuania, gave a great performance and
reached the 3rd step of the podium. Great race also from Simon
Moss, who arrived 6th. In the Super Rok Stephen managed to
join the top drivers and to cross the finishing line 3rd,
in front of the Italian driver Bonafede, always on Birel.
Hajek, who won the Rok Final, commented his race: “already
in the free trials our chassis was working very well, by making
a difference on the technical section of the track and by
protecting the tyres. I would like to thank both Birel and
my team who made available one of the 2007-version chassis.
I am very happy also because, with these results, the potential
for the next season is very high.”
