SUPER
ONE ROTAX MAX: PF INTERNATIONAL
SIMPSON’S
PERFECTION IN HIS PERFORMANCE
10.06.07 - Birel
Motorsport’s Rotax max driver Michael Simpson continued
his domination of Rotax Max S1 series with a very impressive
victory at PF International.
The Birel driver
from Hull was impressive all weekend topping the times through
Friday and Saturday practice and then underlining his performance
with pole position in time qualifying.
The heats saw Simpson
take a win, a 7th and a 3rd place from grid 23 in heat three.
Starting on the front row alongside Dan Holland Simpson initially
slipped back to fourth showing caution on the opening lap
but was soon back up to 2nd behind the TonyKart of Benjy Russell.
The two pull cleared of the field. With 10 laps to go Simpson
seemed happy to sit behind Russell but realizing Russell’s
pace was slowing the Birel driver eased past and the end of
the main straight to pull an easy lead and cushion which he
maintained to the flag to record his second S1 victory in
a row. Simpson has now extended his lead in the championship
with a total of 545 points.
“it
was a great race and I’m really pleased with the result,
we have made some real improvements with the Birel R31 chassis
since Larkhall and we’re really starting to see the
difference now, everyone involved have pulled out all the
stops and so this is a real team victory for all at Birel,
ACR, Ogden engines and of course my dad on the spanners!”
commented a delighted Simpson.
